Aging Minor

Now is the perfect time to consider a Minor in Aging Studies from UW! People are living longer than ever before and populations are aging worldwide. The gift of old age presents numerous opportunities in a wide variety of careers. The demand for professionals with expertise in aging is growing rapidly. Whether your interest is in healthcare, social services, business, or a number of other fields, a Minor in Aging Studies will complement your declared major.

Wyoming Family Practice Geriatric Fellowship

The goal of this program is to train internists and family practitioners for careers in clinical practice, teaching, administration and research in geriatrics, with an emphasis on rural care of geriatric patients. This program is intended and structured to provide and/or facilitate the acquisition of the knowledge, clinical and interpersonal skills, professional attitudes, behaviors and experience required for a successful career in geriatric medicine, whether institutional, academic, clinical, or private practice.

Helping Hands Grants: https://www.apaf.org/impact/community/helping-hands-grants
The Helping Hands Grants Program provides grants of up to $5,000 to medical schools for mental health and substance use disorder projects, particularly in under-served minority communities. Funded projects are created and managed by medical students and can be conducted in partnership with community agencies, or in conjunction with ongoing medical school outreach activities.

 

The National Register of Health Service Psychologists: the professional home of Health Service Psychologists

  • National Register/American Psychological Foundation Internship Travel Scholarship: These $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually to psychology doctoral students who will transition to an APA/CPA accredited internship in a new geographic location later that year. Applicants for the $1,000 scholarship are selected based on both their stated goals as a health service psychologist and economic need. 
  • The Next Generation Fund: Our Next Generation Fund supports doctoral students in psychology with a $1,000 scholarship towards relocation to their internship site. Offered in conjunction with the American Psychological Foundation, we’ve awarded $220,000 through Internship Travel Scholarships since 2022!
  • Associate Program: Join our community of psychology doctoral students and trainees.  Psychology students enrolled in a doctoral program (e.g., PsyD, PhD, EdD) that is accredited by the American Psychological Association or the Canadian Psychological Association are eligible to join the National Register Associate Program for free at any stage of their doctoral training. By joining the National Register Associate Program, you are entering a community of 15,000 psychology doctoral students, trainees, and licensed psychologists across the United States and Canada
