The Symphony Association has awarded many thousands of dollars in scholarship funds to talented young musicians who play in the orchestra. For many of these students this scholarship is in addition to other awards given by the Music Department or the Financial Aid Office. Association bylaws state that “Symphony Association Scholarships are offered to the very best incoming students who it is felt can make a significant contribution to the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra during their first year at the University of Wyoming.”
Potential University of Wyoming students interested in applying for Association scholarships need only apply for financial aid from the Music Department. This will automatically make them eligible for Association scholarships as well.
This year’s winners are:
Saúl Fuego Garcia, violin
Brittany Kubiak, violin
Anh Vo, violin
Rachael Lawson, flute
Daniela Garzón, bassoon
Micah Miller, trumpet
Lucas Donato, percussion
In addition, these students are recipients of Symphony Association McElhone scholarships, which fund students majoring in engineering or the sciences who also play in UWSO.
Terrin Bond, oboe
Eloise Fadial, violin
Sophia Helmkamp; violin
Liam Jones, trumpet
