Gardiner Angus Ranch Internship

    - A message from Mark Gardiner -

I am writing again to seek your help in identifying students who might be interested in an internship at Gardiner Angus Ranch in Ashland, KS.  We began our internship program the spring of 2012. Since that time we have had 24 interns from Arkansas, BYU-Idaho, Cal Poly, Kansas State, Missouri, New Mexico State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Simpson University, Texas Tech, Nebraska and Texas A&M.

All the interns have gained experience in the day-to-day operations at Gardiner Angus Ranch, including AI breeding, ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis, super-ovulation of donors, embryo collection and semen testing of sale bulls.  They have also been involved in data collection for genetic evaluations, genomic testing and the marketing of purebred and commercial cattle in our Spring or Fall Production Sales.

Another 10-week internship opportunity will be available at our ranch in Ashland, Kansas during the spring semester of 2018 (January- May).  The deadline for applications is October 15th.  Interns will be selected based on their livestock background, academic performance, career goals, leadership potential and work ethic.  Housing will be provided and each intern will receive a $2500 stipend at the end of the internship period.

If you know an undergraduate rising-junior or senior that has the potential to be a future leader in the livestock industry, we would love to have them as an intern.  Further information and application forms for the internship can be found on our website:

Thank you for your help in identifying students who might be interested in an internship at Gardiner Angus Ranch.  If you have any questions regarding the internships, please feel free to contact me by phone (620-635-5095) or email (

Thanks again for your help.
