Meet the new ASUW President Brian Schueler and the new Vice President Emily Kath

Although Brian has had the privilege of traveling to many different locales, Buffalo, Wyoming is truly his home town. Upon Graduation from Buffalo High, Brian came to UW to pursue a degree in International Studies, and later added an Economics major. During his time at UW, Brian has been active in ASUW, and was a recipient of the Charlotte Hearne Davis Freshman Senator Scholarship for his work on the freshman senate. He has served as an ex-officio for the Intra-fraternity Council and continues to be involved with his own fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, where he served as the vice president for the past academic year. Brain was a recipient of the Chinese Ambassador’s Wyoming Scholarship, and spent his Junior year in Beijing, China, studying Chinese which was a truly transformative experience.

This semester, Brian has spent much of his time working as a senator, and putting in extra time to better understand ASUW in preparation for the election. He is very excited to get to work on the platforms that he and Emily have put together, and looks forward to a great year ahead!

Emily Kath, a Wyoming native, is a junior at University of Wyoming studying Political Science and Communications in the Honors Program. Emily was recently awarded as the 2015 Milward Simpson Outstanding Junior in the Political Science department. Ms. Kath is also a student ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences. Emily recently spent time in Washington D.C. because she was accepted upon application as a student lobbyist to advocate for collegiate issues. She just finished working as a legislative aide for Representative Samuel Krone in the Wyoming State Legislature.  Last semester, Emily worked in Washington D.C. as a Personal Office Intern for Senator John Barrasso. Prior to accepting the position with Senator Barrasso’s office, Emily worked as an intern at Lorenzo de ‘Medici Institute in Florence, Italy for The Florentine Newspaper.

Upon return to the university, Ms. Kath remains active on campus as a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Mortar Board, intramurals, and other various organizations. Throughout her involvement, Emily has held key leadership positions. Recognized for her contribution to student government, ASUW named Emily ASUW Freshman Senator of the Year, ASUW Student at Large of the Year and a member of the ASUW Committee of the Year.
