Undergraduate Research

Student examines coal samplesProjects in Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry/Mass Spectrometry

Research opportunities are available for highly driven, organized and independent undergraduate students in the Basile research group. Please contact Dr. Basile via email or stop by his office in PS311.

Requirement for all jobs in the Basile lab: CHEM 2230 (Quantitative Analysis) with a minimum grade requirement of "B". No Exceptions.

Biological Mass Spectrometry: Development of methods for the rapid analysis of biological samples by GC-MS, MALDI-MS/MS or ESI-MS/MS.

Lipidomics and metabolomics: MALDI-MS and GC-MS detection of a wide range of lipids and metabolites in biological and environmental samples, like bacteria, soil, beer, and bees.

Energy related projects: analysis of coal samples by GC-MS and MALDI-MS
