December 16, 2014 — The University of Wyoming played a key role in a nearly decade-long study by the state that concluded cloud seeding has some effect, with a 5-15 percent positive impact on snow accumulation shown after the weather modification technique is used.

September 11, 2014 — A University of Wyoming professor has received funding from the U.S. Department of Energy for an innovative coal conversion project aimed at producing a synthetic gas that can be used in the production of value-added chemicals.
June 5, 2014 — Gov. Matt Mead and University of Wyoming President Dick McGinity were joined today (Thursday) by Greg Hill, president and chief operating officer of Hess Corporation, to announce Hess’s second commitment to UW in the past two years.
March 4, 2014 — The University of Wyoming announced today (Tuesday) the creation of a new collaboration with Halliburton, a leading oil field services company. Halliburton is gifting $2 million to support the construction of a major new UW energy and engineering research complex. In addition, Halliburton is funding $1 million for research into unconventional reservoirs.
February 24, 2014 — If anyone deserves the designation of “pioneer” in the field of improved oil recovery (IOR), it is University of Wyoming Professor Norman Morrow, whose work in developing low-salinity flooding to unlock the secrets of oil and gas reservoirs and subsurface processes is appreciated and applied throughout the world.
February 17, 2014 — Paul Rechard seemed to be born for water, of any form. Born in 1927, he’s the son of a math professor who would go on to be the dean of arts and sciences. Paul and his older brother Ottis went through high school at the University of Wyoming prep school.
October 15, 2012 — This past summer, Nels Frazier taught computational science concepts to high school and middle school students around the state. This fall, the University of Wyoming fifth-year undergraduate from LaGrange will receive some supercomputing education of his own.
