Wyoming Section, American Chemical Society Scholarship
All information should be received by the Chairman of the Awards Committee by February
1, 2022.
Purpose
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist a qualified high school graduate in beginning
his/her study of chemistry at the University of Wyoming.
Nature
The scholarship will consist of an award up to the equivalent of full resident tuition
for the freshman year. In the event a student already has a tuition scholarship to
the University, a cash award may be made, the exact amount to be fixed by the awards
committee, after consideration of the student's financial need.
Eligibility
Application for the scholarship is limited to high school seniors whose educational
aims are to pursue a bachelor's degree program in Biochemistry, Chemistry or in Chemical
Engineering at the University of Wyoming. Students need not be Wyoming residents.
The award for the spring semester is contingent upon satisfactory grades for the fall
semester and continuation as a Biochemistry, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering major
at the University of Wyoming.

The interested Senior should make written application to

The application materials must include:
1. A letter or statement describing the applicants planned college major and career
goals.
2. Letters of recommendation from the student's instructors in chemistry, mathematics
and English.
3. A transcript of the high school record, including grades for the fall semester
of the senior year.
4 A listing of courses to be completed in the spring of the senior year.
5. Any other pertinent information, such as results of CEEB, SAT, ACT, National
Merit examinations, etc.
Selection
The Awards Committee will consider all applications and make recommendations for the
recipient and alternates to the Executive Committee of the Wyoming Section A.C.S.
After receiving authorization from the Executive Committee the Chairman of the Awards
Committee will notify the U.W. Scholarship office of our selections and will cooperate
with the Scholarship office for the final authorization of the award. If no worthy
applicant is available or if insufficient funds are available, the committee may recommend
that no award be given that year.
Announcement
The name of the actual recipient of the award will be announced at the first Fall
meeting of the section and the recipient will be invited to attend that meeting to
be introduced to the section.
