Welcome Graduate Students!

As a prospective graduate student in the Civil & Architectural Engineering Department, we know you'll have questions. We're here to answer them. Degrees and Enrollment

The following Graduate Degrees are currently offered through the department:

  • Masters of Science in Architectural Engineering
  • Masters of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil Engineering
  • Interdisciplinary PhD in Hydrologic Science

Current Enrollment:

  • The current Graduate Program Enrollment is approximately 60 students (50 Masters/10 PhD) and the number of graduate students is continuing to grow each year.

Graduate Requirements

Masters Degrees Require (2 years average completion time):

  • Plan A, Thesis: 26 Hours of Graduate Coursework, 4 Hours of Thesis Research, and a Thesis
  • Plan B, Non-Thesis: 30 Hours of Graduate Coursework and a "Plan B Paper"

Doctoral Degrees Require (3-5 years typical completion times):

  • 56 Hours beyond the Bachelor's Degree, 16 Hours of Dissertation Research, and a Dissertation
