What is criminal Justice?

The Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology offers a B.A. in Criminal Justice as well as minors in Criminal Justice and Pre-law.
Criminal justice is an interdisciplinary degree program that will expose you diverse scholarship from fields such as criminology, political science, sociology, psychology and anthropology. It is also an experiential program that provides opportunities to earn credit hours toward your degree by participating internships, giving you the opportunity to experience different career paths and develop skills that will prepare you for the job market. UW offers the criminal justice bachelor’s degree program both on campus and through online learning.
Looking to go to law school in the future? Our pre-law concentration and pre-law minor are designed to prepare students for success in law school and beyond. Students will take classes from diverse disciplines such as Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, International Studies and Philosophy.
Criminal Justice, B.A.
The B.A. in Criminal Justice is a social science major that examines the causes and impacts of crime in society. Graduates go on to careers in fields such as law enforcement, homeland security, probation and parole, and victim services.
Degree Requirements
This degree requires 120 credits, 42 of which are upper-division credits.

This degree requires that The University Studies Program 2015 requirements are met before graduation. Some of the courses required for this major fulfill USP requirements, but not all. Students should check their degree evaluations and consult with their assigned academic advisor to discuss their specific course plan.
