Nursing BRAND

BRAND is an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for either students with a previous non-nursing baccalaureate degree or who desire to become a registered nurse. The degree is intended to capitalize on a student’s previous studies and education while providing an opportunity to obtain a second bachelor’s degree in nursing in a summer-to-summer format.

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice (CJ) is a social science that critically examines the causes and control of criminal behavior. The CJ Department is interdisciplinary: criminologists, political scientists, sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists, and many others contribute their knowledge to the field. Biology

Courses in biology have been developed with several different needs in mind. These courses meet the needs of those who desire a general knowledge of biology for its cultural value, those specializing in areas which require a background in biological sciences, and those selecting biology as a major.

Communication

The bachelor of arts or science in communication will prepare you for a variety of careers and graduate programs. While earning your degree, you are encouraged to pursue internships, where you will gain experience in your field and network with community professionals. Courses are offered onsite, online, and through video or audio conference technology.

Elementary Education

The undergraduate elementary education degree is a 128 credit-hour program, with endorsements in early childhood program director, early childhood special education, early childhood mental health, early childhood three to five, early childhood three to eight, teachers of American Indian children, principal, special education, special education director, literacy, English as a second language, superintendent, and online instruction.

Humanities and Fine Arts

This is a distributed major that offers you a multidisciplinary education, allowing flexibility in selecting courses from a variety of areas. Upon graduation, you will have gained a broad knowledge of the humanities.  For this major, you select three areas of focus, but there is enough flexibility to plan a course of study to prepare for a variety of professional and career interests.

Journalism

Effective fall 2017 semester, the bachelor’s degree in journalism will no longer be available at UW-Casper. Advisers will assist students who are currently enrolled in the program at the Casper campus to complete their degree. This degree will remain available at the UW campus in Laramie, and will continue to enroll new students. Mathematics and Science

This degree is organized as a multidisciplinary program with a list of appropriate courses approved by participating departments. For this major, you will select four core areas of focus. There is enough flexibility to plan a course of study to prepare for a variety of professional and career interests.

Medical Laboratory Sciences

This program is designed to build upon any existing accredited medical laboratory technician (MLT) associate’s degree program, as well as offer opportunities for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other related science.

Secondary Science Education, Biology

As a student in the degree program, you may choose courses in microbial; plant and fungal; animal; ecology; or evolution and genetics. In addition to your biology coursework, you will take specific courses designed to prepare you for becoming an educator in a secondary classroom, grades six through 12 in Wyoming. Upon successful completion of all coursework, and a four-month residency teaching assignment, you may receive an institutional recommendation in secondary science education with an endorsement in biology. Opportunities are also available for adding endorsements in earth science and chemistry.

Social Work

The Division of Social Work prepares students for entry-level generalist social work practice. Graduates receive a bachelor of social work (BSW), and are prepared to work as generalist social work practitioners with individuals, groups, families, organizations, communities, and institutions.
