To be eligible for this chapter you must have entered military service after June 30, 1985, and had your basic military pay reduced by $100/month for the first 12 months of service.  If you are currently serving on active duty, you must have served a minimum of 2 years continuously before becoming eligible to receive benefits under this chapter.  You must also consult with the Education Services Officer (ESO) on your military facility before applying to the VA. 

This chapter will be sunset in 2030.

If you are a disabled veteran, you may be eligible for these benefits if you incurred or aggravated a service-connected disability.  You must need vocational rehabilitation because your disability limits your ability to work.

Veteran Readiness And Employment (Chapter 31) | Veterans Affairs (va.gov)

 The Post 9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days.  You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) | Veterans Affairs (va.gov)

 This chapter is for dependents of deceased or totally disabled veterans with service-connected disabilities.  Eligibility for a veteran’s children lasts from age 18 to the student’s 26th birthday.  For spouses there is no age limit.

Survivors’ And Dependents’ Educational Assistance | Veterans Affairs (va.gov)

 Basic eligibility under this program extends to a person who: enlists, re-enlists, or extends an enlistment in the Selected Reserves/National Guard, a person who is appointed as, or is serving as, a reserve officer

so that the reservist has an obligation to serve for a period of not less than six years following the date of such action.
