Students from outside UWyo are asked to send a completed application (non-UW student application). Non-UW applicants will be accepted based on academic excellence and potential for professional development as indicated by their application and letter of recommendation (submitted no later than March 4, 2024). To apply, non-UW students must have achieved a B or higher in Structural Geology, Sed/Strat, and Mineralogy.

Cost: UW students –

Tuition and fees for 2024 are $3184 (include tuition: $166/credit hour * 6 credit hours = $996; summer Fees: $201.34 (flat rate) + $31.13/credit hour * 6 credit hours = $388.12, and the field camp course fee = $300/credit hour * 6 credit hours = $1800).

The field course fee covers transportation during fieldwork, course supplies, some instructional costs, meals, and lodging while away from Laramie. While in Laramie or working from Laramie, meals (including lunch) and lodging are not covered.

*Note: The University of Wyoming offers this course to UW students, both residents and non-resident students at resident tuition rates.

Tuition and fees for 2024 are $6340 (include tuition: $692/credit hour * 6 credit hours = $4152; summer fees: $201.34 (flat rate) + $31.13/credit hour * 6 credit hours = $388.12, and the field camp course fee = $300/credit hour * 6 credit hours = $1800). Once a student applies and is accepted into the course, a $50 ‘UW application fee’ will be assessed.

All sections start and end in Laramie, WY. Non-UW students are responsible for their travel costs to/from Laramie, and meals/lodging in Laramie (see schedule above). Housing while in Laramie can be available in UW dorm rooms (single or double) for an additional cost (TBA).

Applications must include a paragraph detailing geologic interests as well as a letter of recommendation from a faculty member of their department. Early applications are encouraged due to limitations on the number of students to be accepted. Applications are reviewed as soon as possible, and no later than March 11, 2024. Applicants notified of acceptance must submit a non-refundable pre-payment of $100 to hold a seat in the class. Course enrollment will be limited to approximately 24 students to maintain a favorable student-to-staff ratio (minimum 8:1).

Please note: All communication regarding registration, travel and grades will be with the student only. At all times students must behave in a mature, responsible manner and must abide by all course rules. If these conditions are not acceptable to you, do not apply to this field camp.
