PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MUSEUM WILL BE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS BETWEEN MAY 7 and SEPTEMBER 6, 2012.
The University of Wyoming Geological Museum hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; and closed Mondays. Admission to the museum is free.
The museum is located in Laramie. Laramie is located at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 287, just 45 miles east of Cheyenne.
The UW Geological Museum is located on the northwest campus near the corner of 9th and Lewis, along with the S.H. Knight Geology and attached Earth Sciences Building, the Wyoming Geological Survey, and the new Berry Center for Biodiversity.
Due to campus construction projects, parking is limited on the northwest part of campus. There is a nearby metered lot at 10th and Lewis St., and handicap parking is available there. Day parking permits are also available. More information is available at www.uwyo.edu/uw/tour.
Please note that access to the rear of the museum by vehicle is currently unavailable.
You can find campus maps and information here.
Which direction are you coming from?
The UW campus is centrally located within Laramie, bounded by Lewis St. on the north, Ivinson St. on the south, and 9th St. on the west. 15th St. bisects the campus.
The museum is located on the northwest part of campus, near the intersection of Lewis and 10th streets. Due to construction on campus, Lewis St. is closed between 9th and 11th streets. During school days, the best place to park is either at the meters in the lot at 10th and Bradley, or in the neighborhoods directly north and west of campus. Be aware that many residential streets have parking restricted for residents only, and tickets for parking in these areas are $50.
The museum can be reached on foot from all directions across campus. Consult the campus map (link above) to determine the best route, and visit the Anthropology Museum and the Berry Center while you are here!
