Robert J. Golten Fellow of International Human Rights

October 27, 2014

Tilman Jacobs joined the University of Wyoming College of Law faculty as the Robert J. Golten Fellow of International Human Rights in the fall of 2014. He previously worked for immigrants’ rights organizations in Massachusetts, D.C., and California, representing asylum seekers, detained immigrants, and unaccompanied immigrant children in federal proceedings. Prior to law school, he worked in the international development field.

Professor Jacobs received his J.D. with a Certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a Global Teaching Fellow and a Legal Research and Writing Teaching Fellow. He also holds a master’s degree in international policy studies from Middlebury College’s Monterey Institute of International Studies.

The primary responsibilities of the Robert J. Golten Fellow are supervising the activities of the Center for International Human Rights Law and Advocacy and teaching in the International Human Rights Clinic. This semester, Professor Jacobs has been assisting students on several asylum cases, as well as multiple human rights projects in Africa and the Middle East.

Professor Jacobs is excited about serving as the Robert J. Golten Fellow and collaborating with the University of Wyoming College of Law. He says, “It is a pleasure to work with enthusiastic students dedicated to working with the under-represented populations of the world for the greater good.”
