About the IMC

The Integrated Microscopy Core (IMC) of the Wyoming Sensory Biology Center (SBC) is a federally-listed Active Research Core Facility. It is funded by The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) through its IDEA program.  Its primary mission is to enhance the ability of researchers to elucidate how sensory systems work and how disease/pathological states occur.

Operation.  Operation of the IMC is under the guidelines for the Research Cores of the Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) Phase 1 (PAR-18-266) and 2 (PAR-22-163).

Oversight and reporting structure. The IMC is under the oversight of the following structure:

Administrative Core of the SBC,

Research and Economic Development Division,

External Advisory Committee of the SBC,

NIGMS IDEA Program (Dr. Ming Lei, director of the Division for Research Capacity Building, email: leim@mail.nih.gov).

User fees. The user-fees is determined based on federal guideline NOT-OD-13-053, based on total federal dollars invested from NIH grant (grant No. P20GM103432) and operation cost. The rate of the user fee is assessed bi-annually. The user-fees is reported annually to the federal agency NIGMS for their review and approval.

User publication acknowledgement requirement

With the support of the Wyoming SBC under grant No. P20GM121310, IMC significantly expanded the advanced imaging instrumentations and its research capacities. In addition to supporting the research need of SBC investigators, this core facility opens to all UW researchers, graduate students for their research need. Any research that involves in the use of the facility is required by the federal funding agency to cite the COBRE center grant.  Here is an example phrase that can be used in your publication acknowledgement:

“Research reported in this publication was supported in part by the Institutional Development Awards (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under grant number P20GM121310”. In addition, the acquisition of the Zeiss LSM980 is co-funded by the UW INBRE network, any research that involves in the use of this equipment shall acknowledge the INBRE grant (2P20GM103432), in addition to P20GM121310.

Comply with the NIH public Access Policy

Users must comply with the NIH Public Access Policy and report their publications acknowledging the IMC and (SBC P20GM121310), by using My NCBI to report publications within 3 months of paper acceptance.
