Letter from the Artistic Director

Dear Cellists and Cello Lovers,  

I look forward to seeing you at the 8^th annual UW Cello Festival on May 4, 2024! 

 

This year we are excited to welcome David Geber and Julia Lichten, from the Manhattan School of Music, as our distinguished guests.  Also, we honor Douglas Moore, cellist, director, and arranger extraordinaire.  Our cello choirs will feature Doug’s arrangements.

 

We have planned an amazing lineup of guests and events. Please join us for this day of community and inspiration. 

 

UW Cello Festival events planned for May 4, 2024, will include masterclasses, lectures, technique workshops, a special playing class for adult learners, and of course, the cello choirs.  There will be events for all ages and stages of cellists! 

 

Douglas Moore will lead the Advanced and Combined Cello Choirs, and we welcome Ryan Walker, Director of the Sheridan HS Orchestra, as director of the Intermediate Cello Choir.

 

For those of you interested in learning more about the viola da gamba, we will have a "viola da gamba petting zoo". You are welcome to play the beautiful consort of instruments on loan to us from the Viola da Society of America.
