Using or Forwarding Your UWYO E-mail Account
UWYO E-mail Account
You have an e-mail account from the University of Wyoming. Your UWYO e-mail account will be the only e-mail associated with your Outreach Credit Programs courses. You must either use your UWYO account, or forward mail from it to your preferred e-mail address. The university's communication with you will be sent to your UWYO e-mail address only.
If You Have not Activated Your UWYO Account ...
To activate your UWYO account information (username and password), go to WyoWeb and follow the link "Get Your Username and Initial Password," below the login box. Enter and submit the required personal information, and the response page will provide you first-time login information to WyoWeb.
If you need assistance, call the UW IT Help Desk between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. by calling either (800) 448-7801 and ask to be transferred to the IT Help Desk, or call the IT Help Desk directly at (307) 766-4357, option 1. Tell the IT Help Desk attendant that you are an Outreach student who needs a password created.
Accessing Your UWYO E-mail Account
Your UWYO e-mail is conveniently accessed from within WyoWeb. The following illustrated tutorial explains how.
Step 1 - Establish your UWYO account
First, make sure you have received your UWYO account information from the Information Technology help desk. All students admitted to the university have a UWYO e-mail account created for them. If you do not have your username and password, please see the section above about activating your UWYO account.
Step 2 - Log into WyoWeb
With your UWYO account information in hand, visit the WyoWeb portal. Use your UWYO username and password to enter the portal and click on the login button.
Step 3 - Access your UWYO Outlook Web Mail
After you have successfully accessed the WyoWeb portal, click on the email icon, upper right of the screen. A new browser window will open, displaying the Outlook Web Access interface for your UWYO e-mail account.
Forwarding Your UWYO E-mail Account
We recommend that you use your UWYO e-mail account for all school business. However, we realize that you may prefer to continue using a different e-mail service. To receive school-related e-mail messages, you must forward e-mail from your UWYO account to your preferred e-mail account. The following steps outline how to forward your UWYO e-mail account to your preferred email service, such as Yahoo, Hotmail, or any other non-UWYO e-mail system.
Step 4 - Add a "Rule" to manage your UWYO email
Click on the Rules selection, lower left of your screen.
Step 5 - Create "New" rule
The main window will now display any rules that have been defined previously. Most likely, this will be empty. Click on the New button towards the top of the screen.
Step 6 - Set Forwarding directions
The Edit Rule dialog box appears. At the bottom of this dialog box, check the "Forward it to" radio button and enter the forwarding e-mail address in the box next to this. Also, uncheck the box "Keep a copy in my Inbox" if you do not wish to keep copies of messages on the UW mail server. If this box if left checked, your UWYO e-mail account will, over time, become full and eventually new messages sent to your UWYO e-mail account will be rejected.
UWYO e-mail includes advanced Spam Identification which tags spam e-mail (unsolicited bulk e-mail). However, the mail system will still deliver spam messages to your mailbox, unless you set up a filter to block messages tagged as spam. By using the same technique outlined in the Forwarding Your Email section above, you are able to add rules to filter and redirect the unwanted messages either to another folder which you create, or to the trash folder for deletion.
