Instructional Support for Distance Education Classes

Outreach Credit Programs provides specific training and support for faculty teaching distance education courses for the University of Wyoming.
This support includes assistance in the best practices for instruction using any of our distance delivery methods as well as training on specific software programs and equipment used in distance education.

Although the software and hardware used to teach distance courses constantly changes, at this time Outreach Credit Programs provides and supports the following:

• Video conferencing tools
• The Outreach Video Network (OVN)
• Audio conferencing tools
• eCollege course management system
• All specific tools within the eCollege platform
• ClassLive Pro/Elluminate (web conferencing)
• Podcast development and distribution (iTunesU, Audacity)
• Microsoft Office applications
• Audio editing/podcast software (Garageband, Audacity)
• Video editing/vodcast software (iMovie, Camtasia)
• Streaming Video
• WyoCast (classroom capture)
• Video taping and production

Training on other technologies or software is available upon request and is responsive to instructor needs and changing technologies and methodologies.  In addition to the above mentioned training and support the eCollege Teaching Institute offers an online eCertification Course. The eCertification Course is a four-week online class in which faculty members become the online students, learning the skills and techniques for developing and teaching an online course. The costs for this course are covered by Outreach for instructors teaching Outreach classes.
