Plant Sciences at UW

Welcome to the Department of Plant Sciences here at the University of Wyoming.

If you are interested in a career where you can help feed the world and improve the quality of the environment, then have a look at our Bachelor of Science Agroecology program. We also minors in Plant Protection, Horticulture, and Agroecology (agroecology minors available to students majoring in other areas besided agroecology).

Our graduates are poised to take a wide variety of jobs.  Nearly all of these jobs are challenging, intense, rewarding, family-friendly, and never routine.

Our courses cover a wide array of plant related topics: agronomy, crops (fruits, grains, vegetables), plant diseases, food production, forages, greenhouse environments, ornamental horticulture, invasive species, organic production, plant physiology, water, weeds, and most importantly how they interact.

As a student, you and your advisor select your courses that match your career interests.  But one theme holds true throughout, and that is sustainability.

Sustainable agroecology is not just management of plant systems that are environmentally safe, but also profitable, and sociologically and consumer friendly and we emphasize all three.

So, if you want to make a difference in your local community or worldwide, please check us out.
