Healthy Options for the Prevention and Education of Substances

AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates

General Information

As part of UW's comprehensive approach to alcohol, sexual assault, and relationship violence prevention education, the University of Wyoming is requiring all first-year students and transfer students with less than 60 credits to complete AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (SAPU). These are online, non-opinionated educational programs that are used on almost 1,700 campuses nationwide. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and will help you to reflect on and consider college drinking related issues. SAPU will provide you with information about healthy relationships, the importance of consent, how to help a friend, and the many ways you can help create the safe, positive campus you want to be a part of.

ATTENTION INCOMING SPRING 2020 FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS AND TRANSFER STUDENTS: AlcoholEdu and SAPU will be available to take starting December 16, 2019. You will receive an email from the Dean of Students stating that the courses are open.

UPDATE: We have been receiving feedback that the link on the WyoWeb checklist is appearing for students who are not required to take the programs, this is most likely due to a delay in processing transfer credits in our system. If you suspect this may be the case you can contact us to confirm. Additionally since there are two parts of both programs, the checklist will not reflect a green checkmark until part 2 is completed. Since these courses are hosted on a site outside of the UW system, there can be a delay in reflecting the changes on WyoWeb. For any questions, please contact the HOPES Program at hopes@uwyo.edu

NOTE: These courses have two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement:

  • Part 1 of AlcoholEdu takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, while Part 1 of SAPU takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour to complete. We recommend that you take them in multiple sittings and plan accordingly. For AlcoholEdu, you must pass the final exam with a 75% or higher to get credit for the course. The deadline for finishing Part 1 of BOTH courses is Friday, January 24, 2020 by midnight.
  • Part 2 will NOT be available until forty-five days after you complete Part 1 of each program. You will receive an email asking you to complete Part 2. The deadline to complete Part 2 of BOTH courses is Monday, March 23, 2020 by midnight.

Please note that failure to complete AlcoholEdu and SAPU with a passing grade by the specified deadlines will result in a registration hold being placed on your account.

AlcoholEdu and SAPU Instructions (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!)

  1. Login to your WyoWeb account by going to http://wyoweb.uwyo.edu and click "Students". When returning to the courses at a later date, you will repeat steps 1-3.

  2. On the left-hand side, you will find your "Checklist" and "To-Do List". If you are required to take both AlcoholEdu and SAPU the link to these programs will be in your "Checklist". For all other students, the link to SAPU will be found in your "To-Do List".

  3.  Either link will lead you to a description of the courses and link to the Everfi website which hosts the courses.

  4. Once you are on the Everfi website, you will be asked to enter info (name, age range, etc.) and to click register.

  5. Once you have registered your account, you will be taken to a dashboard with both AlcoholEdu and SAPU as options to begin.  PLEASE NOTE: AlcoholEdu and SAPU are SEPARATE courses. You can actively toggle between courses using the dashboard. Please ensure that you complete BOTH in their entirety.

  6. When you are complete with each course, the modules should show 100% complete. DO NO log out until you click the "Next" button or you will have to repeat the section you have just gone through.

Troubleshooting

Here are a few things to try if you run into problems:

  • Try the program in a different browser (if you are using Internet Explorer, try Firefox, Chrome, or Safari instead).

  • Try clearing the cache.

  • Make sure you are not running anything else on your computer like music, video streaming, and/or instant messaging at the same time you are taking AlcoholEdu or SAPU.

  • Try a wired Internet connection or try a different Internet connection.

  • If you cannot see the "NEXT" button, try zooming out. On a PC: Control + 0. On a Mac: Command + 0.
