Qian Yang

Qian Yang is a assistant research scientist at CASI specializing in electron microscopes and X-ray analyses. Dr. Yang earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 2022, focusing on catalyst development. 

In previous roles, Qian worked on various projects involving solar cells, quantum dots, polycarbonate (polymer), ionic liquids, and catalysts. He has a wealth of hands-on experience with S/TEM and SEM imaging techniques, including EDS mapping and electron diffraction. He has also worked with powder XRD and XPS, earning rarefied access to the synchrotron at Argonne National Lab during his Ph.D research. Additionally, he has experience maintaining and repairing ultra-high vacuum systems.  

Qian is originally from Yunnan, China, but has called Laramie his home since 2009. Outside of work, he enjoys rebuilding and fixing old scientific instruments for fun. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the invigorating pursuits of cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and hiking.
