Gabrielle AllenDirector | School of Computing EN 4085 Gabrielle AllenDirector | School of ComputingOffice: EN 4085 Gabrielle Allen was appointed the Director of the School of Computing in March 2022 after a university-wide search. Previously, she held an administrative role as the Special Assistant for Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Research and Economic Development. Gabrielle holds academic appointments as a Professor of Mathematics and Adjunct Professor of Physics and Astronomy. Gabrielle joined the University of Wyoming in January 2021, moving from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she served in multiple roles as Professor of Astronomy, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Education, Associate Director for Research at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and Adjunct professor in Computer Science and Curriculum and Instruction. Gabrielle's other previous professional appointments include research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam, Germany, the Russell Long Professor of Computer Science at Louisiana State University (LSU), and founding member and Assistant Director of its Center for Computation and Technology. She served as a Program Director in the Office of Cyberinfrastructure at the National Science Foundation (NSF) from 2010-2012, where she was responsible for leading an NSF-wide working group running cross-agency software programs, including software institutes, and leading the OCI Learning and Workforce Development cluster. Gabrielle's research work has focused on the development and application of scientific community software, including the Cactus Framework, Einstein Toolkit, and Grid Application Toolkit. Although her work has predominantly been related to simulations of black holes, neutron stars, and gravitational waves, her group's software has also been applied in fields as diverse as petroleum engineering, computational chemistry, coastal modeling, and computational fluid dynamics. The interdisciplinary nature of her research is reflected in her former faculty positions in Computer Science, Physics, Astronomy, Curriculum and Instruction, and her role as Associate Dean of Education. She has published over 100 refereed journal and conference papers and has been awarded the Gordon Bell Prize in Supercomputing in 2001, the IEEE International Scalable Computing Challenge in 2009, and the High-Performance Bandwidth Challenge in 2002. In 2017, she was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society. of Business. I have a twenty-plus year career in marketing technology products and
software. I am a Go-to-market (GTM) leader, supporting initiatives from top-to-bottom
of the marketing funnel. Including the needs of every stakeholder at the UW School
of Computing. I make sure the market, prospect students/faculty, staff, school/college,
strategic partners, and all customers are engaged in content needed to enroll, teach,
conduct research, and graduate from the School of Computing. This effort includes
market research, messaging/positioning framework, cross-department collaboration,
content creation, marketing campaigns, events, websites, slide decks, flyers, ebooks,
printed materials, social channels, email programs, press releases, webinars, analytics,
and more. The strategy is to serve students, faculty, the University of Wyoming, and
WY businesess with computing programs that make a difference. Jeff HamerlinckDirector | WyGISC | Senior Research Scientist Room 335, Agriculture C Jeff HamerlinckDirector | WyGISC | Senior Research ScientistOffice: Room 335, Agriculture C Dr. Jeff Hamerlinck has served as Director of the Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center since 2004. In this role he is responsible for guiding the Center's strategic vision and overall operations. As WyGISC Director he serves on the State of Wyoming Governor's GIS Advisory Board and is active in the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS). His teaching and research interests range from land-use and environmental planning to spatial data infrastructure management and place-based planning support systems. Jeff received his PhD in Geography from the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he studied the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in rural community land-use planning. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and holds the designation of GIS Professional (GISP) by the GIS Certification Institute. A 2011 graduate of Leadership Wyoming, Jeff is an avid fly-fisher and day-hiker, and has recently re-discovered recreational tennis. Raya Hegeman-DavisDirector of Engagement | School of Computing EN 4081A Raya Hegeman-DavisDirector of Engagement | School of ComputingOffice: EN 4081A Dr. Hegeman-Davis joined the School of Computing from the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign. In her role at UIUC, she led and contributed to major computing initiatives including serving as a key lead in developing a new Computer Science Teacher Education Endorsement program and co-developed the first computer science undergraduate licensure pathway in Illinois. She also helped author new K-12 computer science education legislation in Illinois and developed many important partnerships including with industry, the Illinois Board of Education, community colleges, and other Universities. Hegeman-Davis also launched and ran annually the Illinois Statewide K-12 Computer Science Education Summit which brought together key stakeholders from across Illinois to address the barriers, obstacles, and successes in broadening participation in computer science at the K-12 level. Dr. Hegeman-Davis is Senior Personnel for the Education Thrust of the Artificial Intelligence for Future Agricultural Resilience, Management, and Sustainability Institute (AIFARMS) and Affiliate Faculty in the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). She also served as the STEM education lead for numerous campus initiatives such as the Inclusive Innovation in the Quantum Sciences and the Accessible Technology lead for the Campus-Community Compact to Accelerate Social Justice. Prior to joining UIUC, Dr. Hegeman-Davis worked as an Education Research Consultant on International Development in Education projects. Her primary focus was on accessible and quality education opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, but she also worked with teams worldwide. Her current research interests include Teacher training, K-12 Computer Science integration, STEM education in rural contexts, CS equity and inclusion, STEM pathways and retention, and educational policy. Beth has been with UW for ten years, most recently as the Business Manager of Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center. Her primary focus has been on managing, directing, and supervising business operations, including all personnel and financial activities. Prior to coming to UW, Beth was the office manager for a family-owned financial planning office in Denver. His primary responsibilities include assisting with administrative logistics and financial reporting for the school. He also focuses on using technology to increase productivity and organization. Tom has a diverse background as a former financial services representative and a graduate of a software development bootcamp. Outside of work he enjoys adventuring outdoors, working on software projects, and finding fun new things to cook. |

Judy enjoyed over ten years of employment with the University of Wyoming College of Education, first as an office associate within the Secondary Education Department and then as an office associate, senior in the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education's office. Prior to coming to UW, she worked at the Wyoming Department of Education. Her primary focus has been on program improvement and accreditation. She also has experience with academic program development and articulation. |
