How long does it take to complete the program?
It depends. The students in our program are working professionals, so most take only 1-2 classes each semester. Most students take 4-6 years to complete their program.
Can I transfer in credit hours to apply toward the program?
Yes, up to 30 credit hours from courses completed in an accredited master's degree program in the past 7 years. This program must be directly relevant to mathematics education (e.g., an MA/MS completed in mathematics, an MA completed in mathematics education). For courses completed more than 7 years ago, you would need to submit a petition asking to have these courses count toward your degree. This petition is generally submitted 2-3 years after starting the doctoral program.

To be considered for fall admission, your complete application must be submitted by the 1st of February.
Are graduate assistantships available in your doctoral programs in mathematics education at UW?
Occasionally. Generally, faculty will know by the spring whether funded opportunities exist for students for the following academic year.
In the PhD program in mathematics education, I noticed that there's a residency requirement. How can I meet that requirement if I don't live in Laramie?
Some students complete their residency requirement by working on a research project with a UW professor.
