Biography
Leslie S. Rush is a professor in the School of Teacher Education at the University of Wyoming. Dr. Rush has received the University of Wyoming's John P. Ellbogen Meritorious Classroom Teaching Award and the Promoting Intellectual Engagement in the First Year Award. From 2013-2022, she served in several administrative positions, including Department Head, Associate Dean, Director of the Wyoming School-University Partnership, and Interim Dean. Her research interests include disciplinary literacy in English Language Arts and instructional methods for reading and writing instruction in English Language Arts classrooms. Dr. Rush's research on the work of Instructional Facilitators in Wyoming secondary schools was funded by the International Literacy Association's Elva Knight Research Grant. Dr. Rush taught high school English for twelve years in California, Texas, and East Africa. An active member of NCTE and its affiliate organization, the English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE), Dr. Rush was the co-editor of the ELATE journal, English Education from 2010-2015. She served as a member of the ELATE Executive Committee from 2016-2020. Dr. Rush has published in Harvard Educational Review, Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy,Journal of Literacy Research, Journal of College Reading and Learning, Reading Research and Instruction, Reading Online, and The Rural Educator.
