Faculty & Staff Parking FAQ

Certain parking permit zones require individuals to sign up for the waitlist.  Individuals will receive a notification via email when a permit is available for them to purchase. (It is important for individuals to ensure their priority email address through the parking portal.)  Most awards will expire in 7 calendar days; check your award letter for deadline. If the permit is not purchased before the deadline, you will have to sign up for the waitlist again.

Only one waitlist will be awarded at a time. If you have selected multiple waitlists (up to 3), and a higher priority waitlist is awarded, the lower priority waitlists become inactive.  High priority waitlists that were not awarded will remain active and may be awarded at a later time.

Example: These waitlists are in order of priority.

    Brown Zone 103

    Brown Zone 105

    Brown Zone 102

Brown Zone 104 was awarded. Brown Zone 102 automatically becomes inactive whether the permit is purchased or not. The waitlist remains for Brown Zone 103. Brown Zone 104 may be purchased by the deadline listed in the award letter.  If Brown Zone 103 is awarded at a later time, the active permit may be exchanged.

Permits currently requiring a waitlist are:

  • Gold+

  • Brown 101

  • Brown 102

  • Brown 103

  • Brown 104

  • Brown 105

  • Brown 107

  • Brown 108

  • Orange 202

Permits that do not require a waitlist:

  • Gold (Ivinson Parking Garage)

  • Brown 106

  • Orange 201

  • Orange 203

  • Red

  • Purple

View our permit hierarchy chart for a quick reference guide on where you can park depending on your permit type.

For a more detailed explanation of where you can park, please visit our parking zones page.

Properly permitted motorcycles can park in ANY motorcycle area indicated on the parking map.

Benefited employees may elect to pay for their parking permit through payroll deduction.  Permits may be paid for via lump sum or monthly deduction.  Please follow the steps during the check-out process.  Once completed, Transportation Services will make the necessary arrangements to have payments deducted from the employee’s paycheck.

There is no guarantee, but there is a reasonable expectation that you will be able to find a parking space.

We also anticipate that there will be less traffic and congestion within the parking lots.

Unfortunately, there are times that parking may be needed for special events. While we understand the need for permit holders to park in their designated areas, there may also be a need to accommodate special requests.  We carefully consider each situation and try our best to balance both needs appropriately.  We will notify permit holders via email if a special event may displace parkers with alternative nearby parking locations.

Circumstances may arise in which Transportation Services was not made aware. In situations as these, you are welcome to park in another area that the permit is valid for.  You may also reach out to our office for alternatives.  We may be able to grant an exception for the day.

Personal Reserved Parking Spaces

Benefited employees are able to apply for personal reserved spaces.  Employees interested in a reserved spaces should complete the Personal Reserved Space Application and email it to tps@uwyo.edu

Fees

Reserved spaces are $1,320.00 a year.  If approved, employees may pay for their reserved space up front with cash, check, credit card, or payroll deduction (lump sum sum or monthly). Reserved spaces are non-refundable.

Reserved space holders must also purchase and hold the appropriate zone permit for the reserved parking space location.  Parking permits may be paid up front with cash, check, credit card, or payroll deduction (lump sum or monthly).

**Please note that reserved spaces are subject to availability and may be prioritized and assigned based on campus needs.

Board Retirees are eligible to receive a free parking permit, but must provide proof of vehicle registration in their name.  Board Retirees qualify for all permit types except Gold+ and Green zones.  Please note that all parking permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you do not qualify to renew your current permit or simply would like a different zone, please be sure to sign up for a waitlist.

Contact Transportation Services at (307) 766-9800 or tps@uwyo.edu for the most up-to-date zone availabilities.
