Our Aerospace Studies minor provides an overview of the United States Air Force operations. The minor is housed within the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFROTC) program. Elective coursework prepares students to launch careers in global leadership opportunities.

Aerospace Studies at UW

The aerospace studies minor contributes to UW students’ professional development and serves as a great addition to other majors within the AFROTC program. Understanding of leadership approaches and international relations achieved throughout the program increases the career opportunities of graduates.

Aerospace studies personnel are composed entirely of active duty US Air Force personnel like Lieutenant Colonel John Sieps, Major Matthew Clark and Captain Adam Tutt. Students get familiar with the current USAF through direct interaction with Detachment 940 leadership.

What Can You Do With a Minor in Aerospace Studies?

Students who complete the AFROTC program receive a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force after graduation.

Financial Support

A variety of scholarships and opportunities are available to students through UW. Additionally, the AFROTC offers scholarships to cadets at various stages of their college experience. Don’t hesitate to reach out for more information as you consider ways to cover costs. 

Networking & Student Groups

Opportunities to learn from active duty US Air Force personnel connect students with professional contacts. Through AFROTC courses students are encouraged to build connections beyond the classroom. Performing community service is one activity cadets do to honor civic duty.

 

Academic credits for Army and Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) are applied toward baccalaureate and graduate degrees in varying amounts depending upon the degree plan of the student and as determined by the college concerned.
