Leonard Holler Earns CVA Designation

May 14, 2009

Leonard Holler, business consultant for the wyomingentrepreneur.biz-Wyoming Small Business Development Center (WSBDC) program in Casper, is now a certified valuation analyst (CVA).

He recently completed the certification process through the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). The WSBDC is a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Wyoming Business Council and the University of Wyoming.

Among requirements to be certified, a person must be a licensed certified public accountant and complete both NACVA's training program and the association's comprehensive certification examination.

Business valuations are most commonly required with the purchase or sale of a business, succession planning, buy/sell agreements, charitable contributions, estate and gift taxes and initial public offerings. Other areas where valuations are often necessary include situations of business disruption, dissenting shareholder actions, and divorce and partner disputes, Holler says.

NACVA is a global, professional association that offers a range of support services, marketing tools, software programs, reference materials and customized databases to enhance the professional capabilities of its members.

To maintain his CVA certification, Holler will be required to periodically obtain continuing professional education in areas related to business valuation and participate in programs sponsored by NACVA that promote quality and adherence to industry standards.
