WyoCloud Launches at UW

University of Wyoming faculty and staff members participated in a town-hall style meeting Nov. 1 to learn more about WyoCloud, the new cloud-based Oracle solution that will provide support for many of the university’s financial, administrative and research support systems effective July 1, 2017.

The event was held in the Wyoming Union East Ballroom and was live-streamed across campus. The program directors, Jen Chavez and Megan Hanneman, presented the Executive Steering Committee’s vision and mission for the WyoCloud project and discussed how this implementation will support the university’s academic mission. The university began the process of implementing WyoCloud in July 2016, and the financial system is scheduled to go live in July 2017. WyoCloud is UW’s new Oracle cloud-based systems for financial management, human capital management, grants management, budgeting and planning, supply chain management, and reporting and analytics.

“The question of the day is why now and why, in this fiscal climate, are we making these system changes,” Vice President for Administration Bill Mai says. “The answer to that is this climate has made it all the more imperative that we do it now, because it gives us a chance to hit the reset button on how to run the university and, with the proper information, you can run it better.”
