Brandon McElroy, PH.D.

Brandon McElroy serves as Vice Provost for Access and Engagement and as Professor of Geology and Geophysics.  As VP for Access and Engagement, he is responsible for overseeing the University of Wyoming's Commitment to Access and Engagement for all students, faculty, and staff.  The University is currently undergoing a major transition after closing the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  Brandon works directly with individuals and groups from across the University community to support their programs, activities, and functions during this transition.  In addition, he provides guidance, leadership, and coordination for the wide range of University commitments that must continue through this transition.
 
Brandon graduated from the University of Michigan in 2000 (B.S., Geological Sciences) and 2003 (M.Sc., Geological Sciences) and from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009 (Ph.D., Geological Sciences).  His research interests are focused on rivers and deltas, their geomorphic processes, and their sedimentary records.  After graduation Brandon worked as a research scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey.  He has been on the faculty at the University of Wyoming in the Department of Geology and Geophysics since 2012. He has mentored many undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral associates.  His prior institutional service includes Faculty Senate, University committees, and a variety of roles within his department.
