Human Resources

Basic Needs

The Food Share Pantry at the Pokes Center for Community Resources is a free resource for faculty and staff.  They offer fresh food, non-perishables, personal hygiene, and household items.

Transportation Services provides courteous, safe, reliable, accessible, and efficient transportation solutions for faculty and staff.

UW’s Information Technology team can help with a wide range of technical questions or problems including computer repair, help with your UW accounts and email, and more.

Wellness & Mental Health Resources

The EAP offers free, confidential counseling services for employees and their household members, including mental health support, substance abuse services, and life coaching.

WellSpring Counseling offers free and confidential counseling services for individuals, couples, families, adults, adolescents, and children. They provide face-to-face counseling for UW employees as well as the greater Laramie community.

Half Acre and Campus Recreation offers inclusive access to fitness equipment and classes, personal training, outdoor trips, and intramural sports. The Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center provides equipment and programs that support physical and mental health.

Safety, Legal, & Concern Help

The Violence Prevention Center firmly believes that sexual and interpersonal violence can be prevented, and that we can create a safer and more respectful community. They utilize research-informed and evidence-based approaches including Green Dot that are rooted in public health models and best practice.

Employees can use UW’s Report It system to raise concerns about discrimination, harassment, misconduct, or safety issues. Reports are directed to appropriate offices.

The University of Wyoming Police Department (UWPD) operates 24/7 and is committed to keeping campus safe. UWPD provides emergency response, safety escorts, crime prevention education, and community outreach.

The Ombuds Office at the University of Wyoming provides the university community an informal setting in which to share dilemmas, ideas, questions, without fear of exposure, retaliation, or recrimination.

Engagement & Community

The Faculty Senate and Staff Senate serve as representative voices for UW employees, working to promote shared governance, advocate for workplace improvements, and strengthen communication between campus leadership and the broader university community. Both senates provide opportunities to get involved, shape university policy, and build meaningful connections with colleagues across campus.

From unique speakers to local volunteer days, employees can take part in the life of the university through social, cultural, and service-based events.

From music or theater and dance performances featuring students to special events bringing in unique performing and visual artists, the Buchannan Center hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

The University of Wyoming is home to a diverse range of museums that offer opportunities for exploration, education, and inspiration. From the UW Art Museum, showcasing contemporary and traditional works from around the world, to the Geological Museum, where visitors can encounter Wyoming’s prehistoric past, these spaces celebrate discovery across disciplines. The Anthropology Museum and the American Heritage Center invite visitors to engage with cultural history, archival treasures, and groundbreaking research.

Opportunities for advancement are available through leadership institutes, mentoring programs, and skill-building courses offered by UW’s HR and the Ellbogen Center for Teaching & Learning.

The Presidential Leadership Institute’s mission is to empower UW’s talented staff to become exceptional leaders.  Applications typically open each March.

The Research & Economic Development Office assists faculty with funding opportunities, proposal development, and compliance guidance to support academic and research excellence.

The Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Wyoming is dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning across campus. We are here to support faculty, staff and graduate students by providing resources and opportunities for professional development. Through workshops, consultations and specialized training we help UW’s educators find and foster their most effective teaching strategies.
