What is Admission with Support?
UW’s Admission with Support program offers an alternative pathway for students who don’t fully meet standard admission requirements but show strong academic potential. Students admitted through this pathway participate in the Bridge Program or other transition programs to set them up for success.
YOu have questions - we have answers
Being admitted with support is nothing to worry about! UW is here to help you transition smoothly and set you up for success from day one.

You may qualify if you:
- Have a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA between 2.50 – 2.99
- Have a 2.25 – 2.49 GPA (subject to holistic review and may require an essay)
- Have no more than two deficiencies in the High School Success Curriculum (both cannot be in the same category)
The High School Success Curriculum ensures students are academically prepared for UW. To qualify, students must complete:
- 4 Years of English
- 4 Years of Math (Algebra I, Algebra II & Geometry required)
- 4 Years of Science (At least 1 year must be Physics, Chemistry, or Physical Science)
- 3 Years of Social Science
- 4 Years of Additional Coursework (Foreign Language, Fine Arts, or Career-Vocational Education; 2 years must be in the same subject)
Students can have no more than two deficiencies and those deficiencies cannot occur in the same category (e.g., missing two math courses would not qualify).
The Bridge Program is a nationally recognized academic support initiative designed to help students transition successfully into college. Students admitted with support must register for Bridge by July 15 before fall classes begin.
If you don’t register by the deadline, we encourage you to start at a community college
and transfer to UW after:
Completing at least 30 credit hours with a 2.0+ GPA
OR earning an associate’s degree
Homeschooled students must meet the same eligibility requirements and submit a Home School Credit Evaluation Form.
GED students must:
- Have an average score of 157-163 on the GED test
- Submit ACT or SAT scores if under 21
- Be at least 18 years old or have a high school class that has graduated
