Complete an Application
Apply early in your senior year to receive admission info promptly and maximize scholarship opportunities. There is a $40 non-refundable application fee.
You may also apply to the UW using Common App.

Request your official high school and/or college transcripts be sent directly to UW Admissions. Provisionally admitted students may use a six-semester transcript.

Submit ACT/SAT Scores
Test scores are not required for admission, but they can help secure higher financial awards. We recommend submitting them with your application. Use the following codes when sending scores:

Submit College Credits
If you’ve taken Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, have official scores sent directly to UW Admissions.

Admissions Requirements
To be considered for admission to the University of Wyoming as a first-year student, you’ll need to meet specific academic requirements. Below are the details on the high school success curriculum and GPA needed to help you understand what’s expected to gain admission and set yourself up for success at UW.
GPA Requirements
We welcome all first-time students to apply and will evaluate them based on academic achievement. For assured admission, a cumulative high school GPA of 3.00–4.00 is required. Students with a GPA of 2.50–2.99 are admitted with support. Be sure to check additional requirements for financial assistance opportunities!
High School Success Curriculum
First-year students must have completed 4 years of English, Math (including Algebra I, II, and Geometry) and Science (with one year in physical science like physics or chemistry). You’ll also need 3 years of Social Science and 4 years of Additional Coursework, such as Foreign Language, Fine Arts, or Career Education, with two years in the same subject.

Home School & GED Admissions Requirements
We welcome qualified home school and GED students to apply to the University of Wyoming! Homeschooled students must meet the same requirements as other high school graduates and their instructor should submit a Home School Credit Evaluation form to UW Admissions.
GED students must have an average score of at least 164. Applicants must be at least 18 years old or have completed their application after their intended high school class has graduated. Those under 21 are also required to submit ACT or SAT scores.

Through our peer mentoring program, Cowboy Coaches are there to guide you through your first year, offering one-on-one assistance and personalized support. With plenty of face time and tailored help, this resource contributes to high success rates and strong retention from the first to second year, setting you up for continued success at UW.
