NWSC stands for NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center. This is a collaboration between the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Wyoming providing UW researchers the opportunity to access to 320 million core hours on their newest HPC cluster, Derecho.
Best fit for: NWSC Allocations and resources are ideal for ARCC users who need to scale CPU or GPU resources beyond what is often available on ARCC's Medicinebow cluster.
Interested in Applying? Access to NWSC resources is subject to an application which can be made for both small and large allocations. Please see this page more information on NWSC Allocation Basics. Allocations may be requested through UW's InfoReady Portal.

UW works in partnership with Argonne National Labs and their Leadership Computational Facility through the ALCF Lighthouse Initiative, meant to leverage additional computational and AI resources to advance critical research. UW has received a discretionary allocation of computational resources to support researchers who would like to try out Argonne National Lab's world-class computing resources.
The UW lighthouse allocation is intended to serve as an on-ramp for UW researchers who would like to test Argonne National Lab computing resources. Testing would also prepare researchers for their own major allocation awards through Argonne's INCITE and ALCC programs.
Best fit for: ALCF Resources are ideal for ARCC users who need to scale GPU resources beyond what is often available on the ARCC's Medicinebow cluster, or those who need access to specialty AI accelerators available through their ALCF's AI Testbed.
Interested parties should first request to be added to the UW Lighthouse allocation as indicated below. Instructions are dependent upon the requestors account status.
