Medicinebow: ARCCs Primary Cluster

On-Premises Cluster Computing

Medicinebow is ARCC's primary on-premises cluster housed at the UW Information Technology Data Center on the University of Wyoming Campus in Laramie WY.  Medicinebow is a heterogeneous cluster with a number of several specialty partitions designed to meet the UW Research Community's emerging needs for simulation, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, as well as more traditional high-performance computation tasks.  Effective upon go-live (Summer, 2024), MedicineBow is securely accessible over the web using MedicineBow OnDemand, or over SSH with a ssh key and certificate for authentication.

Are you a candidate for cluster computing?

  • Is your computer covered in post-it notes and threatening signs that say something along the lines of "RUNNING LONG PROCESS: DO NOT REBOOT"?
  • Are your datasets getting large enough that they are crashing your desktop computer?
  • Does your analysis take an hour or so, but you need to run it hundreds of times?

Such situations can provide applicable use cases for moving your work to a computing cluster, and may save you significant time.
