Are you new to Converse County or do you just want to brush up on landscaping, composting, and grazing livestock in rural Wyoming?  All workshops are open to the public and will feature speakers, refreshments, and a separate youth program. The youth programs will mirror the adult programs and are open to kids ages 8-18.

Tour de Coop

Take a tour of West Laramie's chicken coops at the annual Tour de Coop! This tour will have three stops and see four coops (including one for ducks) and have informational talks on keeping chickens (how to tell if a chicken is laying will be a topic). The starting point (at 8:30am) is 2252 W. Monroe St. (near the corner of Grant and Monroe). This event is organized by Laramie Local Foods and UW Cooperative Extension Service. Spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon in the comfort of the EWC bus touring Goshen County horticulture hotspots, including Ellis Harvest Home, which features a corn maze and high tunnel vegetable production, UW SAREC (Sustainable Agricultural Research & Extension Center) and high tunnel research projects.  The afternoon will culminate in a tour, wine tasting, and finger foods at Table Mountain Vineyards, near Huntley, WY.

Purty Punkin Farm/Ricky & Lucy’s Herb Farm Tour

Included in our itinerary will be a mid-morning coffee & snack break at Coffee Ferrari in Oshkosh, where their premium coffee is roasted in house. Next will be a harvesting and processing tour of Armstrong’s Purty Punkin Farm in Brule, Nebraska, one of the largest pumpkin farms in the US, 650 acres dedicated to pumpkins and ornamentals.   Lunch, yay!  Our last stop is at Ricky & Lucy’s Greenhouse (near Sidney, NE), a totally organic greenhouse operation.
