Meet Our CEAS Student Ambassadors

Andrea Comer

Andrea Comer

I am a sophomore in the Petroleum Engineering program, while also pursuing a minor in International Engineering. I am a first-generation student from Webster, Florida, so attending an out-of-state school was very big for me. I knew University of Wyoming was the right choice because of the astounding, advanced technology that they offer their students to use and learn from; not to mention the beautiful landscape. I am currently a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and looking at opportunities to study abroad for the summer. I got into Petroleum Engineering from my previously spent time volunteering at a CEMEX mine to teach students environmental science topics. I enjoy reading, drinking coffee, problem-solving, traveling, and outdoor activities such as kayaking. I am excited to be an CEAS Ambassador to gain new insight to the education system and, hopefully, encourage more students to enter the STEM field.

I am a senior studying Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Bioengineering and a minor in Mathematics. I am from a small town in California called Ridgecrest which is where I found my passion for electrical engineering. I am involved in Engineers Without Borders and even got to go to Guatemala for a project! I also played piccolo in the Western Thunder Marching Band and got to attend the Potato Bowl in 2017 and the Arizona Bowl in 2020! My favorite part about attending UWYO is the Cowboy Pride that is present through the entire state!

I am a senior studying mechanical engineering. Although I am originally from Aurora, Colorado, UW has become my home. Sophomore year, I had the honor to be an undergraduate research assistant in which I helped design a drop tower that tested the impact on football helmets. Junior year, I had the opportunity to study architectural engineering abroad in London, Paris, and Barcelona. Because of the opportunities UW has provided, I can't imagine being anywhere else! Along with being a CEAS ambassador, I am also a student ambassador for the university, a Tau Beta Pi tutor, and I'm involved in intramurals. Outside of school I enjoy hiking, watching movies, hanging out in downtown Laramie, and attending UW football games. I am excited to meet new people through CEAS and to help students find their place at UW.

I am currently a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Sustainability at the University of Wyoming. I am from Thornton, Colorado. I am involved in many groups, including Phi Sigma Rho Sorority, the Aerospace Research Group, and ASME. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures and languages. I can currently speak Portuguese as I am half Brazilian and have also been learning Chinese for several years. In the future, my dream is to work with carbon capture to decrease overall global CO2 emissions. In my free time, I love to play my violin and read fiction books.

I am a senior Computer Science student at the University of Wyoming. I am originally from Guangzhou, China - the opposite of Laramie because it is very populated. I enjoy hiking, reading, and having small cups of coffee with my friends. And Laramie is the best place for that!

Jorden Schulte

I am a Wyoming native who has been fascinated with science since a very young age. Thermopolis, Torrington, Cody, and Laramie have all been home to me. I graduated from Cody High School, and I received my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming in May of 2019. I am now a Master’s degree candidate at UW focusing in computational fluid dynamics. Wind energy and aerodynamics are my passions and motivations for pursing an advanced degree. I plan on working in one of those industries after I graduate. Physics, science, and math are my favorite subjects to study and share with others. Since elementary school I have been tinkering with mechanical devices and exploring electronics. I was inspired to become an engineer after following the lead of older role models and siblings. I hope I can motivate the same fascination for engineering and science in a few others by being a Outreach Ambassador. Outside of school I enjoy learning and experiencing new things. This is why I have always loved reading. Whether it is history, literature, mystery, or science fiction, there is always something to learn. Also, I am always hunting in the fall, skiing the Rockies through the winter, and going on backpacking trips over the summer. I believe my range of experiences and interests will help me connect with young students and spark an interest in STEM education.

I moved from Seattle to Laramie in 2017 to attend UW initially as a business major. Currently, I am a senior pursuing a major in petroleum engineering and a business management minor. I am involved with organizations such as SWE and SPE, in addition to undergraduate research involvement during the fall 2020 semester. I hold a professional background in sales and marketing with experience in multiple management positions after working for my previous company for over two years. Post-graduation, I hope to find a career in project management of offshore drilling rigs. Aside from academics, my personal endeavors include independent music production, personal fitness, and skiing.

I'm a senior in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in Bioengineering. I'm an international student, born and raised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Home to almost 200 nationalities, land of equal opportunities to all and beautifully multi-cultural, my hometown has shaped me into the person I am today. I chose UW because of the outstanding engineering program which has been an incredible learning experience. I find senior year to be the most exciting as I'm able to work on areas I'm most passionate about, like my mRNA vaccine development senior project. I'm beyond thrilled to be given an opportunity to share my excitement with young minds and inspire them and pique their interest in engineering and related fields and see the innumerable opportunities that come with it. I have been a part of Explore Engineering, the K-12 program, Multicultural Student Leadership Initiative, Engineers without Borders and a Mental Health Wellness Ambassador at UW Wellness Center, Half Acre. Currently, I'm a part of AIChE, EWB, I work as a tech at the UW IT Department and part of the UW COVID Shield team, assisting with testing and processing at the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory.

I was born and raised in the great country of Egypt. I graduated from the University of Wyoming in May of 2019, and I am currently back completing graduate school studying Civil engineering. After having completed my bachelor's degree at the University of Wyoming's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, I knew UW was not just a university for me. It was more like a home.  My passion for learning more and more about engineering played a big role in my growing drive of teaching it to others. So I have been involved with the K-12 outreach program since my freshman year in college, previously known as "Exploring Engineering." There is absolutely nothing that can make my day more than a big smile or the shining eyes of excitement from the kids I have been working with. I have also been one of the CEAS student ambassadors, the Institute of Transportation Engineers president, and the American Society of Civil Engineers JEC representative throughout my time at UW.
