Glen G. Larson was born in Rawlins, Wyo., in 1947. He is a decorated Vietnam War fighter pilot who went on to have a successful career in aviation as a test pilot and executive in the aerospace industry. While majoring in engineering at the University of Wyoming, he was active in Air Force ROTC. After graduation from UW he attended USAF pilot training and while assigned to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing in southeast Asia flew 221 combat missions in Operation Linebacker. His military decorations include four Distinguished Flying Crosses, 19 Air Medals and the Legion of Merit. His experience led him into a career as a test pilot for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. As a production and engineering test pilot, he tested the airworthiness of aircraft and aircraft systems. Larson then transitioned into the role of experimental test pilot conducting high-performance flight tests in the F-15 and F-18. He authored technical papers on a variety of subjects, including engine performance, combat maneuvering and out-of-control situations. He transitioned into senior management leading international sales of the F-15, and managing Peace Sun Programs producing F-15s for Saudi Arabia. He also served as a fighter pilot with the Missouri Air National Guard. After surpassing 5,000 flight hours, he retired from the USAF Reserve in the rank of Colonel, ending a military career that spanned 30 years. He continued his career in industry with Goodrich Aerospace and BAE Systems.
