Research Interests:
Dr. Gulick’s research is grounded in the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia, a consumer driven approach to rehabilitation. Her work attends to functional and realistic interaction (often conversation), centers people with aphasia and their social networks, emphasize their competence, and use a wholistic view of communication success by addressing the full context of interactions (e.g., multimodal tools, the environment, communication partners). Much of her research thus far has focused on understanding the mechanisms for facilitating aphasia groups and developing measures for capturing communication in conversational contexts.
