Grad FAQ

All admitted Graduate students are considered for funding, however, admission does not guarantee funding. All our faculty members have different labs for research that Graduate students can have the opportunity to work in as well.
The UW Computer Science Graduate Program requires a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0) on previous coursework for full admission.
  1. Fall Semester Admission: January 15th
  2. Spring Semester Admission: September 15th
  3. Note: All international students are encouraged to complete the application process one full year before your anticipated start date.  If you want to start the program in the Spring of 2022, your application should be complete by January 15, 2021 date. If you plan on attending in Fall 2022, your application should be complete by September 15, 2021 date. This is not mandatory but a suggestion.
A complete application is required before the department will review the applications.
  1. Graduate school online application and $50 Application fee.
  2. Official Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions.
  3. Official GRE Scores.
  4. Official TOEFL/IELTS Scores.
  5. Three Letters of Reference.
  6. Research Statement.

The MSCS Quick Start program in Computer Science (COSC) is designed to present highly qualified
UW students with the opportunity to begin graduate study while they complete their bachelor of
science (BS) degree in COSC. These students may apply for admission to the Quick Start program
during the second semester of their junior year or during their senior year.
