How did your experience at UW prepare you for your career and role in your community?
“I had a professor tell me that one important thing about a university is that it helps you figure out how to think critically. He said that what you want to come away within a few years is to know where the resources are to find the information you need. Or the people -- sometimes it is who you know and not what you know. So those connections were helpful.”
How do you feel about what you’ve accomplished for your community?
“The one thing that my dad taught me is that you come into this world naked and you will go out naked -- they won’t allow you to take traveler's checks. So you need to give back to the community. You can’t just take from a community. You have to give back.
“You have some pride with it, but I like to focus on what else we can do. Have we done enough? That is more of my focus.”
What does it mean to you to be a UW Cowboy?
“There is a mindset of the cowboy that has that independence that is pretty special. And kind of represents Wyoming. You can be an art major. You can be any label. But when you walk away from the University of Wyoming, you are truly a Cowboy. And you should be proud of it. And I am extremely proud of that.”
