"Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are the Promises We Make to Our Students" Workshop Content (Fall 2021):

Pre-Party/Workshop Content:

  1. Read this excerpt from Wiggins and McTighe's book called Understanding by Design.

  2. Read pages 3 and 4 of the article Writing Effective Statements for Assessment of Student Learning written by Rachel Watson's great mentor Ed Nuhfer. 

  3. Watch Rachel Watson's vodcast Differentiating between evaluation and assessment and integrating both into your teaching!

 

At the end of this session, you will be able to:

  1. Write clear SLOs that communicate actions, conditions and standards

  2. Determine which verbs track to which levels of Bloom's Cognitive Domains

  3. Connect at least one SLO to an activity and an assessment
