Student Rights & Responsibilities
Your Responsibilities as a Student
All students are expected to:
- Act with respect for others and the campus community
- Follow University policies and local, state, and federal laws
- Engage honestly and respectfully in the conduct process if involved
The Code of Conduct applies to behavior that occurs:
- On campus
- During University-sponsored or affiliated activities
- In some off-campus situations when behavior impacts the UW community
Prohibited Behaviors
The Code outlines behaviors that may result in University action, including but not limited to:
- Academic misconduct
- Disruptive or threatening behavior
- Harassment or discrimination
- Sexual or interpersonal misconduct
- Alcohol or drug-related violations
- Damage to property or misuse of University resources

Your Rights in the Conduct Process
Students involved in the conduct process have the right to:
- Receive written notice of alleged concerns or violations
- Understand the conduct process and ask questions
- Bring a support person to meetings
- Review relevant information used in decision-making
- Receive written outcomes and appeal eligible decisions
