Information for Parents & Families

Supporting Your Student Through the Conduct Process

The University of Wyoming understands that parents and family members play an important role in supporting students.

While federal privacy laws (FERPA) limit what we can share without student consent, we encourage families to:

  • Talk openly with their student
  • Encourage accountability and reflection
  • Help students connect with campus resources

What Families Should Know

  • The conduct process is designed to support learning and growth
  • Many cases are resolved with educational outcomes rather than punishment
  • Students are encouraged to ask questions and seek support

Families with general questions may contact the Dean of Students Office, though details about specific cases typically require student permission.
