The Bridge Program seeks dynamic student leaders to serve as Peer Mentors in Fall 2025 Bridge Human Culture classes.

    Qualifications


    Applicants for this position must meet the following requirements:

    • Must have attended UW for a minimum of 2 semesters prior to the beginning of mentor semester
    • Must be in good academic standing
    • Must have Mondays from 3:30-4:30 free on their fall schedule

    Learning Outcomes


    As a result of serving as a Bridge Peer Mentor, students will:

    • Boost their communication and facilitation skills
    • Identify personal leadership styles and strengths
    • Develop positive relationships with students, instructors, and UW professionals
  • Students watch a movie in the football stadium

    Job Responsibilities:


    As a Bridge Peer Mentor, students will:

    • Attend three spring trainings during late April/early May
    • Attend assigned Bridge Human Culture class during fall 2025
    • Announce upcoming campus events in class weekly
    • Meet with assigned faculty weekly
    • Attend weekly Peer Mentor trainings (Mondays, 3:30-4:30)
    • Conduct presentations/activities on transitions skills or campus resources in Human Culture class (complete a minimum of 4 presentations during the fall semester)
    • Meet with rotating small groups of mentee students weekly
    • Promote the William White Student Engagement Program and encourage students to complete activities associated with the program
    • Attend regular check-ins with Bridge Manager
    • Collaborate with assigned instructor to create an out-of-class activity for Human Culture class in the first 6 weeks of the semester

    Expectations:


    • Arrive to assigned class and all meetings/trainings on time and prepared
    • Model outstanding classroom behavior
    • Act as a role model and resource for first-year students
    • Present yourself in a professional manner
    • Address instructors, students, advisors, and classroom guests in a respectful, professional way

    Compensation:


    • This position pays $12 per hour with the expectation that Peer Mentors work 5 hours each week.  
    • Total compensation is $900 for the fall semester.
