Graduate Student Robert Mahon Receives Pathfinder Fellowship

Graduate student Robert Mahon (PhD) was recently awarded a Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Sciences, Inc. (CUAHSI) Pathfinder Fellowship for his proposal, titled, “Reconstructing fluvial flow and sediment transport conditions from the 3-D kinematics of bed form evolution and their stratigraphic deposits.”

The $5,000 travel fellowship offers graduate students the opportunity to move beyond “one site, one view” and include a second study site into their thesis research, collaborate with a research group, and add an inter-disciplinary dimension to their research. The fellowship will fund seven weeks of collaborative laboratory flume research at the Hydraulics Laboratory at Imperial College, London with Dr. Vamsi Ganti this summer.

Robert is advised by Assistant Professor Brandon McElroy.
