Resources, Opportunities, and Expectations
There are over a dozen global cohorts at UW that support faculty and staff in conducting, showcasing, and supporting international research and programs. They provide access to collaboration, faculty support, partnering and event opportunities, and funding opportunities. To join a cohort, email cgs@uwyo.edu.

Cohort funding: Each fall, cohorts are invited to apply for CGS funding to support activities that generate additional cohort and community participation in their international area of interest (e.g., hosting notable international colleagues, staging film series, showcasing a culture or location, etc.). Funding is competitive, and availability varies by year.
International research funding: When applying for individual faculty international research awards, CGS considers cohort participation as a positive factor when evaluating an applicant’s commitment, potential for success, and likelihood to build beyond their award for UW’s global goals.
International Research Funding
Each spring semester, CGS highlights the achievements and potentials of one robust cohort. These showcases take the form of an afternoon mini-conference and allow faculty and administrators access to share successes and opportunities in a particular region to the broader UW and Wyoming communities. Recent showcases include Cardiff and Tunisia.
Cohorts are run by faculty members, with limited oversight by CGS. CGS facilitates the initial planning meetings for cohorts each fall semester, as well as funding, research, and event opportunities as they arise.
Cohort members are expected to participate in at least one planning and networking meeting per semester and to participate in the cohort’s program for the year. It is the expectation of each cohort to coordinate cohort leadership and responsibilities, and to communicate with CGS in a timely manner for funding requests.
Faculty are allowed and encouraged to participate in multiple cohorts.
