Signature Programs

In addition to providing funding opportunities, supporting and showcasing international research, and guiding transdisciplinary internationalization across campus, CGS also facilitates a few key programs to connect Wyoming and the world.

CGS Faculty Global Cohorts

At UW, we’re all about changing our world. Our cohorts bring together colleagues from across the university who share regional interests or goals. These colleagues work together to share knowledge and build programming that carries us forward into new opportunity.

Five years ago, we had one cohort: Scotland. Now we have fourteen. Our cohorts focus on China, Southeast Asia, Europe, Japan, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, Oceania, Scotland, Türkiye, Tunisia, Central and North Asia, Africa, Wales, and India. If you would like to participate in, know about, or support a cohort, contact cgs@uwyo.edu.

Japan Outreach Initiative

The Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) partnered with CGS and UW from 2022-24. This two-year program provides a JOI coordinator an opportunity to engage their American community in Japanese-theme programming. Our coordinator at UW was Yuki Ayukawa.

Connecting Japan and Wyoming

As the UW JOI coordinator, Yuki helped UW and the Wyoming community learn more about Japan, its language, and its history. She traveled the state leading classes, workshops, and cultural exchange opportunities. She also helped create, build, and advise on program, institution, and business partnerships with Japanese affiliates.

While Yuki's contract is complete, her work continues through Haruka Takaku at the Heart Mountain Foundation.
