Outdoor Recreation Task Force

Governor Matt Mead created the Outdoor Recreation Task Force in 2016 to assess Wyoming’s outdoor recreation economic sector, needs for now and the future, relationships with land access, and the possible creation of an Office of Outdoor Recreation. The task force will accomplish this through education, transparency, and communication between constituents and governmental agencies. At the behest of the governor, the Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources Office appointed members to the Outdoor Recreation Task Force and hired the Ruckelshaus Institute's Jessica Western to facilitate the group. The Outdoor Recreation Task Force will identify and evaluate options that meet the needs of the many stakeholders involved and will develop near- and long-term strategies, recommendations, and measurable actions that the state (working with federal partners and private interests) can implement.
