Bio
Amanda Sikirica is an environmental sociologist interested in the political economic
and cultural dimensions of technology, science, the environment, energy, and health.
Her recent research traces how institutional configurations shape how regions with
abundant and cheap renewable energies have and continue to grow fossil fuel use. She
is also currently working on a collaborative project on biohacking as a masculine
health practice drawing on cultural understandings of science and work. She is an
Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology.
