Financial Support for Honors Students

Do you have a research idea but would need to buy supplies to be successful? Are you interested in an academic conference in your discipline but need financial support to travel? The Honors College is committed to supporting our students in all aspects of their educational pursuits. This means we offer Honors students a diverse array of grants, funding, and scholarships to support educational experiences. Check them out below!

To be eligible for Honors funding, students must have a 3.0 GPA or above. Applicants within the GPA range of 3.0-3.25 may be asked to meet with their Honors academic advisor.

    Enriched Educational Experience Fund

    Applications are received on a rolling basis

    Have an educational opportunity?

    Do you need money to help support an educational experience? Perhaps there is an upcoming conference in your major discipline you will like to attend or maybe you would like to purchase research supplies necessary for a project you are working on. Apply for the Honors College Enriched Educational Experience Fund to help support your pursuits.

    Capstone Research/Creative Grants

    Applications are received on a rolling basis

    Are you working on your Capstone?

    The Honors College welcomes grant applications to support research and creative work, specifically to support the cost of materials and related travel. Please note that grant requests should not exceed $3000. Grant applications must be submitted on an individual (per student) basis, even if the project is a collaboration with other students.

    Capstone Completion Grants

    December Graduation Deadline: September 15 | May Graduation Deadline: February 15

    Are you completing your capstone this semester?

    Apply for the Capstone Completion grant for up to $500 to support your research and/or creative activity. The main purpose of the award is to give students a financial boost in the weeks leading to the completion of the capstone project.

    James Willits Prize

    Application Deadline: February 15

    Are you interested in ethical issues?

    The Honors College has up to two $1,000 awards to support research and/or creative activity for students in any field working on projects that engage issues of ethics in some capacity. This grant is officially named the James Willits Prize, supported by the Garber family.

    Study Abroad/Away Scholarships

    Deadlines vary by semester

    Gain a life-changing experience abroad.

    Apply for funds to study abroad through the WyoScholarships application portal (the general scholarships application will be required before the Honors Study Abroad/Away Application can be accessed).

    Honors-Sponsored Internships

    Application Deadlines vary

    Are you interested in gaining professional experience?

    The Honors College has partnered with various community partners to support paid internships, which are typically paid at a rate of $15 per hour up to $2500. Check out the Honors Sponsored Internships and the organizations we have partnered with. Partners have previously included the City of Laramie, the Downtown Clinic, the UW Art Museum, and so many more.
